Antique French multispectral holy-water font/vasque with Saint Thérèse of Lisieux – onyx, metal and glass – approx. 1920–1940
Description:
Beautiful antique Catholic wall-mounted holy-water font, probably manufactured in France or Belgium in the first half of the 20th century.
The font features a decorative honey-colored natural stone back plate, presumably onyx, with striking natural veining and color nuances. In the center there is a detailed metal relief medallion depicting Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, also known as Saint Thérèse of Lisieux.
Around the medallion is the Latin inscription SANCTA THERESIA A JESU INFANTE, referring to Saint Therese of the Child Jesus. At the bottom of the relief, the name F. M. Bernard is visible.
The original glass holy-water bowl is still present and intact, as well as the metal hanging eye at the rear.
