Susse Frères - Maximilien Fiot - Sculpture, L'Albatros sur les flots - 37 cm - Bronze - 1920

Remarkable and imposing bronze sculpture from the Art Deco era depicting an albatross with sculpted plumage and wings spread, skimming the crest of a moving wave.
This major work by animal sculptor Maximilien FIOT (1886-1938) perfectly illustrates his modern style, focused on the nervousness of the line and the capture of movement.
Prestige edition: Foundry of the Susse Frères Paris house. The piece bears the round foundry seal “Susse Frères Éditeurs Paris”, the BRONZE mark in relief on the edge, as well as the artist's signature M. Fiot incised on the terrace.
Technique: Hollow bronze of the period with a reverse showing the assembly and traditional casting work of the Susse house.
Dimensions: Exceptional wingspan of 63 cm for 37 cm in height and 26 cm in depth. Weight: 12 kg.
Condition: Superb conservation. Nuanced original brown patina intact, with no crack, loss or restoration.
