Sony TA-A300 integrated stereo amplifier, manufactured in 1988, in excellent condition and tested and suitable for use, weight 8 kg, dimensions 430 x 130 x 360 mm (W x H x D), serial number 500701.
Description from the seller
Sony TA-A300 is an integrated stereo amplifier of Hi-Fi class, manufactured in Japan at the turn of 1987–1989. It is a solid representative of the era of "black components", characterized by dynamic sound and a classic, analog design.
Operational-sound characteristics
Traditional for Sony devices of that period: warm, dynamic and detailed sound with a deep bass foundation. The implemented short-circuit protection system and the so-called "soft start" protect the speakers from current surges at startup.
Solid metal enclosure effectively isolates internal components from electromagnetic interference.
Functionality and interface
The device was designed as the center of a home audio system of those years. It does not have a built-in remote control receiver (no remote control support), offering instead full manual control via physical knobs and switches:
• Phono preamplifier: expanded section handling both popular MM cartridges and more demanding MC (selected by a dedicated switch).
• Signal inputs: 6 pairs of RCA jacks: Phono, Tuner, CD, Video/Aux, Tape 1/DAT and Tape 2.
• Tone color adjustment: traditional knobs for bass, treble and stereo balance. They can be bypassed with the Tone (ON/OFF) function to obtain a clean, linear sound.
• Additional filters: Loudness button (contour to facilitate listening to quiet bass and treble parts) and Muting function (-20 dB).
• Speaker outputs: terminals allowing connection of two pairs of speakers (Speakers A and B). On the front panel there is also a large 6.3 mm headphone jack.
Basic technical specifications
• Output power: approx. 2 x 72 W into 4 Ω (stereo).
• Frequency response: extremely wide, from 7 Hz to 100 kHz (+/- 3 dB), guaranteeing full spectrum low and high tone transfer.
• Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): only 0.05% at rated power.
• Damping Factor: 50, enabling proper control of speaker membranes.
• Signal-to-Noise Ratio (S/N): 100 dB for line inputs.
• Supported speaker impedance: from 4 Ω to 16 Ω.
• Power consumption: up to 135 W – 180 W.
• Dimensions: approx. 430 x 130 x 360 mm.
• Weight: approx. 7.5 – 8.3 kg.
