Description from the seller
Luigi Filippo Rustic Cabinet with Door and Drawer – Italy, 19th Century
An authentic rustic cabinet from the Luigi Filippo era, made of solid wood and datable to roughly the mid-19th century. Characterized by sober lines and balanced proportions, it features a wide upper drawer crowned by a square-panel door, opening onto a practical interior compartment with a shelf. The protruding rectangular top and the molded frieze beneath the drawer recall the essential, functional language of 19th-century popular furnishing.
The structure retains a pleasant antique patina, enhancing the wood's natural grain and testifying to the cabinet's long use. Particularly interesting is the presence of an inset iron lock and antique hardware, presumably original to the period, perfectly consistent with the construction and the authentic character of the piece. The back, made of original wooden boards, confirms the traditional 19th-century craftsmanship.
A versatile piece with great charm, ideal as a nightstand, entryway cabinet, or small cupboard, perfect for rustic environments, country houses, and traditional antique collections. It bears signs of time, wear, and traces of old woodworm, elements compatible with the age and authenticity of the artefact.
