A two-page, large 38.5 × 29.5 cm Spanish consular passport from 1870, issued in Le Havre to Amalia Muñoz de Castro, Marquesa viuda de Peñaflorida, with transit visas and seals from France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Description from the seller
Magnificent large-format passport (38.5 x 29.5 cm), two pages. Exceptional original consular passport issued in Le Havre (France) on September 13, 1870, in favor of Her Excellency Mrs. Doña Amalia Muñoz de Castro, Dowager Marchioness of Peñaflorida, native of Cádiz, and her sister Doña Aurora, destined for England, Switzerland or Belgium. A singular historic piece: It belongs to the period of the Democratic Biennium (Sexenio Democrático). After Queen Isabella II was dethroned, the pre-printed official header of the queen was crossed out in that era and replaced in ink by 'A. El Regente del Reino' (General Serrano). On the obverse there is a large heraldic engraving and the ink seal of the Spanish Consulate in Le Havre, signed by Consul Aníbal Morillo. The reverse includes multiple visas and transit marks from the era: a Normandy visa from Beuzeval (Calvados), visa and seal of the Spanish Consulate in Switzerland (Geneva) and the seal of the recently proclaimed French Third Republic in Geneva. Complete original document from the period with a beautiful coat of arms. Excellent piece, carefully selected. Ideal for collectors, lovers of antique paper and history, and also for those who want to decorate a space with charm. Original from the period. No reserve price. Great opportunity.
