A vibrant corundum var. ruby crystal rises prominently from the contrasting white matrix, creating a dramatic, highly appealing display. The ruby shows a rich pinkish-red color with superb luster and distinct crystal form, further accented by a small pyrite crystal attached alongside it. Under UV light, the ruby produces an intense orange-red fluorescence, giving the specimen an entirely different and striking appearance. Although the ruby crystal has been repaired where it meets the matrix, the restoration does not detract from its strong aesthetics. Overall, this is a beautiful and visually impressive ruby specimen from the famous Jegdalek Ruby Deposit in Afghanistan.
