Circular ceramic serving plate, 30 cm in diameter, signed on the back 'Cerenne Vallauris' from Vallauris, France, by Atelier Cerenne, dating to the 1950s with the "Paon" decor, in excellent vintage condition with minor glaze specks and no cracks.
Description from the seller
Exceptional and large circular serving platter in enameled ceramic, from the famed Atelier Cerenne (founded by Charles-René Neveu) in Vallauris, France. A collectible emblematic piece from the 1950s.
The modern and bold graphic decor divides the platter into two clear hemispheres. On the left, a satin black background hosts the spread tail of a peacock rendered in turquoise, saffron yellow, and green stylized feathers. On the right, against a bright white background, the slender black silhouette of the animal stands out, punctuated with colored details (black crest, purple eye, orange feet).
• Authenticity: Hand-signed on the back “Cerenne Vallauris” with the mention “France”. The workshop’s mark is impressed in relief under glaze.
• Condition: Very good vintage overall. The enamel retains its original luster, no cracks or major chips. Note: small original firing specks in the white and black enamel (classic firing bubbles from pieces from this workshop), testifying to its artisanal production of the era. Pure serving platter, with no holes or original wall-mount hardware on the back.
