AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Bronze ring with rosette head – 10th–15th century AD
A bronze ring with a rounded, domed head formed by small lobes surrounding a dark centre. The decoration resembles a rosette, adding volume to the head, while the hoop has a slightly irregular outline. Ochre deposits and darker areas remain between the reliefs, with wear on the exposed surfaces. The photographs do not establish whether the centre retains a separate insert or forms part of the head itself. The rounded projections give the head a different character from a conventional flat signet bezel. In oblique views, its lobed outline creates small alternating highlights and shadows around the centre. The lower part of the hoop is comparatively restrained, keeping the visual emphasis on the ornament above it. The relief remains visible despite the encrusted surface, although the softened contours do not allow every individual element of the original arrangement to be reconstructed.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2 x 1.1 cm
Weight: 2.65
Provenance: Aduired in Germany from an auction House, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
