Description from the seller
Bronze ring with clustered rounded reliefs – 10th–15th century AD
A bronze ring with a relatively narrow hoop and a raised head formed by several rounded elements, creating a small cluster. Green and brown deposits remain within the cavities and around the projections, while exposed areas show greater wear. The irregular relief gives the head an organic appearance. The photographs do not establish whether every visible element belongs to the metal or whether traces of another filling material remain. The elevated head is the most prominent feature in profile, contrasting with the simpler circular opening of the hoop below. Small recesses between the rounded elements retain darker material, increasing the impression of depth. Areas of green alteration are distributed unevenly and do not form a clearly identifiable decorative pattern of their own. The irregular surface and softened edges should be retained when assessing the appearance of the ring, rather than interpreted as a complete reconstruction of its original ornament.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2.2 x 1.5 cm
Weight: 2.54 gr
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
