Description from the seller
Bronze ring with circular head and lobed border – 10th–15th century AD
A bronze ring with a raised circular head and a thick, irregular border surrounding a greenish-grey centre. The centre appears to contain a filling or distinct element, whose composition cannot be established from the images. Brown and pale deposits remain on the hoop, and one view shows a discontinuity near the junction with the head. The edges and projections exhibit wear and surface corrosion. The thick surrounding edge creates a framed effect and makes the head appear deeper than a simple flat disc. The contrasting central colour remains a conspicuous visual feature, although it does not by itself identify the substance present. Oblique views show the transition between the mount and hoop more clearly than a frontal view. The visible interruption near the head is relevant to condition and should not be overlooked when considering the completeness of the ring.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2.4 x 2.1 cm
Weight: 2.83 gr
Provenance: Aduired in Germany from an auction House, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
