AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Bronze ring with green oval element – 3rd–7th century AD
A bronze ring with a raised oval setting surrounding a green element. The shoulders retain curved incised motifs, partly obscured by deposits and wear. The head contrasts with the hoop through its greater volume and the colour of its centre, whose nature cannot be determined from photographs; it is not identified here as either stone or glass. The metal exhibits dark areas and pale concretions. The oval centre supplies the principal colour accent, while the metal border provides a distinct outline around it. In profile, the setting rises above the hoop and is visually supported by the decorated shoulders. Surface deposits partly obscure the incised treatment, so its full sequence cannot be followed throughout. The contrast between the green centre and the surrounding metal is retained in the description without attributing a particular gem species, manufacturing technique or original colour to the insert.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2.3 x 1.8 cm
Weight: 2.14 gr
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
