AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Bronze ring with oval disc and ring-and-dot decoration – 9th–15th century AD
A bronze ring with a large flat oval bezel, ornamented with small ring-and-dot motifs around the head's perimeter. Other dotted marks are visible within the central field, though less clearly defined through wear. The disc projects above a narrower hoop, emphasising its silhouette in profile. Brown and green tones, concretions and edge abrasion cover the surface. The repeated circular marks create a border that follows the oval shape rather than cutting across it. This arrangement separates the perimeter from the less clearly defined central field. The broad disc is especially apparent in the side views, where it extends beyond its narrower support. Wear has reduced the crispness of some marks, while deposits change the contrast between individual circles. No single central figure or inscription is reconstructed from the less distinct traces.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2.3 x 2.1 cm
Weight: 3.71 gr
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
