Cephalomorphic section - Kuba - DR Congo

This sale offers a selection of works from the studio of a Belgian painter, gathered over time according to his discoveries, his encounters and his affinities. The artists have often maintained a privileged connection with the arts of the primitive world: sensitive to the strength of forms, to the simplicity of volumes and to the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to regard these objects differently than as mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balances, led them to collect these works and, at times, to draw inspiration from them. This ensemble thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the collector’s eye and a fascination with forms from elsewhere.
