Description from the seller

This sale presents a collection of works from the studio of a Belgian painter, gathered over time according to his discoveries, encounters and affinities. The artists have often maintained a privileged connection with primitive arts: sensitive to the power of forms, to the simplicity of volumes and to the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to look at these objects differently from mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balance, led them to collect these works and, at times, to draw inspiration from them. This collection thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the collector’s eye and a fascination with forms coming from elsewhere.

Overview of our appraisal house

Based in Belgium, our appraisal and sales house specializes in African art and ethnographic art. A leading seller on Catawiki for over 8 years, we enjoy a solid reputation and a track record of several hundred sales with a customer satisfaction rate close to 100%.

We regularly assist with liquidations, estates and dispersals of collections, in collaboration with individuals and families in Belgium and in neighboring countries. Our approach is rigorous, transparent and accessible, with many sales offered without reserve prices.

Some pieces that have passed through our hands have joined international private collections and, for some, museum institutions.

Please check the condition of the objects in the photos before placing a bid.
Height is provided as an indication and does not bind the seller to any potential discrepancy.

Shipping insured within 24 hours, with careful packing, insurance and tracking.
Contact 7 days a week: we remain available for any questions or requests for further information.
