Description from the seller
Bronze spearhead with tang from the western Middle East – 1st millennium BC
A bronze spearhead attributed to the western Middle East, with a short leaf-shaped blade, defined shoulders and a central rib emphasising its axis. A narrow tang extends from the base for insertion into a shaft, now absent. Green and turquoise patina covers the surface, with concretions, pitting and wear along the edges. The tip and sides have a slightly irregular outline. The contrast between the broad blade and long tang defines its silhouette. The central ridge gives the blade a more substantial profile than its thin edges, while the shoulders mark a clear transition towards the narrower attachment section. The tang is comparatively long in relation to the compact blade and remains an important part of the surviving outline. Surface alteration varies between thicker concretions and more exposed green areas. No surviving wooden shaft or binding is visible, and the description does not reconstruct the original length, mounting arrangement or performance of the complete weapon.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 6.8 cm length.
Weight: 8.48 gr
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
