Silver ring with a plain octagonal bezel dating to the 1st–3rd century AD, measuring 2.4 × 2.3 cm and weighing 10.5 g, authenticated as original with a digital Certificate of Authenticity, provenance from Germany via an auction house after being previously acquired from Casa de subastas.
Description from the seller
Silver ring with plain octagonal bezel – 1st–3rd century AD
A silver ring with a broad octagonal bezel rising slightly above shoulders that taper towards the bottom of the hoop. The upper face is plain or heavily worn, without an identifiable motif. Grayish and brown tones cover the surface, with small pits and abrasion, particularly along the head's edges. Its apparent finish is not taken as evidence of silver plating. The straight facets around the head create a more angular outline than a simple circular bezel. Their edges remain visible even where abrasion has softened the corners. The broad face is supported by tapering shoulders, which create a continuous profile towards the hoop. Without a readable motif, the ring's visual character depends on its geometric form and relatively restrained surface treatment. Changes between gray and brown areas are described as part of the present appearance, rather than used to identify an additional metal coating.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2.4 x 2.3 cm
Weight: 10.5 g
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
This item has been legally acquired in accordance with European law.
