Description from the seller

This sale offers a set of works from the studio of a Belgian painter, gathered over time according to his discoveries, encounters and affinities. The artists have often maintained a privileged connection with the arts of the primitive: sensitive to the strength of forms, to the simplicity of volumes and to the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to look at these objects differently from mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balances, led them to collect these works and, sometimes, to draw inspiration from them. This collection thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the collector’s gaze and the fascination for forms coming from elsewhere.

Presentation of our appraisal house

Based in Belgium, our appraisal and sale house specializes in African art and ethnography. A leading seller on Catawiki for over 8 years, we enjoy a solid reputation and a history of several hundred sales with an almost 100% satisfaction rate.

We regularly assist with liquidations, successions and dispersals of collections, in collaboration with private individuals and families in Belgium and in neighboring countries. Our approach is rigorous, transparent and accessible, with many sales offered without a reserve price.

Some pieces that have passed through our hands have joined international private collections and, for some, museum institutions.

Please check the condition of the objects in the photos before placing a bid.
The stated height is indicative and does not bind the seller to any possible variation.

Shipping is assured within 24 hours, with careful packaging, insurance and tracking.
Contact 7 days a week: we remain available for any questions or requests for additional information.
