Islamic bronze ring with five ring-and-dot motifs, dating to the 9th–15th century AD, measuring 1.6 × 1.7 cm and weighing 2.37 g, acquired in 2026 from a German auction house and formerly from a private collection, authentic with a digital Certificate of Authenticity.
Description from the seller
Bronze ring with five ring-and-dot motifs – 9th–15th century AD
A bronze ring with a flat oval bezel decorated by five ring-and-dot motifs across the upper face. Their arrangement stands out against a dark field, creating a clearly visible ornament despite surface abrasion. The narrow hoop joins the underside of the disc through simple shoulders. Pale deposits, small pits and variations in patina remain visible. The five repeated motifs are individually distinguishable and give the small oval field a clear rhythm. Their circles and central dots contrast with the comparatively plain hoop and shoulders. The edge of the disc remains visible around the decoration, separating the engraved field from the outline of the head. Deposits and abrasion vary from one motif to another, so the marks are not uniformly crisp. The surviving arrangement is described directly rather than assigned a symbolic meaning that cannot be demonstrated from the images.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 1.6 x 1.7 cm
Weight: 2.37
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
