Description from the seller
Bronze ring with oval bezel and geometric frame – 10th–15th century AD
A bronze ring with a raised oval disc whose upper face retains an angular geometric composition framed by short peripheral incisions. A small central mark is too worn for its meaning to be established. The head projects above a relatively narrow band hoop with simple transitional shoulders. Dark brown patina is interrupted by pale deposits highlighting parts of the design. Edge wear and small pits are visible. The peripheral strokes follow the head's oval outline and create a border around the more angular central arrangement. The contrast between these two elements gives the face a structured appearance despite its worn surface. The disc projects beyond the hoop in the oblique views, while the shoulders remain comparatively restrained. Lighter deposits emphasise some lines more strongly than others. No complete inscription or named device is reconstructed from the small central mark and the surrounding fragmentary strokes.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 1.7 x 1.2 cm
Weight: 2.94 gr
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
