Medieval bronze ring with a raised rectangular head and ornamented border from the 10th–15th century AD, measuring 2.4 x 2.4 cm and weighing 8.7 g, with a textured border and worn brown-green patina stating its authenticity and provenance from a German auction house via a private collection.
Description from the seller
Bronze ring with rectangular head and ornamented border – 10th–15th century AD
A bronze ring with a raised rectangular head bounded by small strokes and reliefs creating a textured border. A small rounded element survives in the centre, whose nature cannot be established from the images. The relatively narrow hoop has a slightly irregular outline. Brown and green tones cover the surface, with deposits in the recesses and wear on prominent areas. The rectangular border gives the head a framed appearance, with small repeated marks adding texture around its central field. Its raised profile separates the decorated upper portion from the simpler band below. The small central element remains distinguishable through its rounded form, but does not retain enough diagnostic appearance for its composition to be named. Deposits lie within the surrounding recesses and wear affects the exposed high points. The original arrangement is not completed by inventing missing stones or additional coloured ornament.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2.4 x 2.4 cm
Weight: 8.7 gr
Provenance: Acquired in Germany from an auction house, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
