Description from the seller

Christofle – Set of 2 Silver-Plated Bottle Coasters – Perles Pattern – France – 20th Century

An elegant set of two silver-plated bottle coasters by the prestigious French silversmith Christofle, beautifully executed in the timeless Perles/Pearls pattern, featuring the characteristic decorative beaded border.

Founded in Paris in 1830 by Charles Christofle, the renowned French silverware house became internationally celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship, refined designs and luxurious tableware. Christofle supplied prestigious households, royal courts and luxury establishments throughout Europe and beyond.

The Perles Pattern
The Perles pattern, introduced by Christofle in 1876, is one of the house's most recognisable classical designs.
Inspired by the decorative elegance of French Louis XVI silverware, the pattern features a delicate succession of small, perfectly arranged beads along the rim.

This refined ornamentation gives the pieces an understated elegance, making them particularly suitable for both traditional and contemporary table settings.

Design and Versatile Use
Each coaster has a beautifully polished, slightly raised circular form with an elegant beaded rim.
The original removable, four-lobed metal inserts are designed to support and stabilise bottles while protecting the table surface.

Traditionally used as wine or champagne bottle coasters, these attractive pieces can also serve as small presentation dishes.

With the removable inserts taken out, they are equally charming as:
Small bread or side plates
Dishes for chocolates, pralines or petits fours
Elegant serving dishes for nuts or small delicacies
Decorative accessories for a refined dining table
Their versatility and timeless French design make them a lovely addition to an elegant tableware collection.
