AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

With stylised facial features, standing with her feet together on a small plinth, short arms outstretched in front, wearing a tight fitting dress with incised details, wearing a peaked diadem in her hair. This figure represents what may have been a devotee, made with the intention of perpetuating his prayer. Ancient Elam was located in the territory that today corresponds to Iran, and was the link between the ancient peoples of Iran and central Asia.

There are very few artefacts relating to Elamite culture, and in fact most of them are housed in the Louvre Museum. There, they preserve some bronze figurines of worshippers very similar to this one. ( see picture)

Provenance: UK private collection, London, formed in the 1970s/ Acquired at Bonhams, London, Auction, 2014

Exhibited: Ifergan Collection museum, Málaga (2018-2020); Feriarte, IFEMA (Madrid, 12-20 November 2022)
