Winery and producer notes
A history begun in 1857: The Bertani winery was founded in 1857 by the brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani in Quinto di Valpantena. With over 160 years of history, it is considered one of the emblematic wineries of the Verona area and a pioneer of Italian wine worldwide.
Traditional Ripasso technique: This wine is produced using the traditional method that involves repassing the base Valpolicella over the marc still warm and rich in sugars from Amarone and Recioto. This process gives greater structure, body, aromas and smoothness to the wine.
The elegance of Bertani’s style: Bertani stands out for a classic and elegant production style, which favors harmony, drinkability and territorial identity over excessive extraction or intrusive oak.
Organoleptic profile
Appearance: Deep ruby red with bright purple hues.
Nose: Rich, enveloping aromatics, characterized by pronounced notes of marasca cherry, ripe plum and berries, enhanced by elegant spicy hints of black pepper, licorice, tobacco and a light toasted touch.
Taste: On the palate it is full, soft and velvety. The calm entry gives way to a good structure supported by pleasant freshness and well-polished tannins. The finish is long, persistent, with a fruity and spicy refrain.
Food pairings
First courses: Perfect with rich Veronese and Italian first courses, such as tagliatelle with duck or hare ragu, baked lasagna, and sausaged risottos.
Red meats and game: Pairs superbly with beef roasts, braised dishes, grilled meats and game dishes.
Cheeses: Excellent with aged, flavorful cheeses, such as aged Monte Veronese DOP or Parmigiano Reggiano.
