Original antique rectangular tin biscuit tin from ca. 1915, in early Art Deco style by Emanuel Josef Margold for H. Bahlsens Keks-Fabrik (Duitsland), with a red, crème and black zigzag border and a stylised rose motif on the lid; dimensions approximately 19 × 11 × 6 cm.
Description from the seller
Original, antique tin can from 1915 by H. Bahlsens Keks-Fabrik Hannover, designed by the Austrian artist and architect Emanuel Josef Margold (1888–1962).
Margold worked for Bahlsen roughly from 1910 to 1917 and sparked a revolution in packaging design by transforming everyday objects into functional art pieces.
This specific rectangular model showcases Margold’s distinctive geometric style: a deep red base color combined with a refined, zigzag Art Deco edge in cream and black. The lid features in the center a stylized relief of a rose, flanked by two diamond-shaped accents. The underside of the can bears the factory’s iconic, detailed relief stamp, which lists the medals won and exhibitions between 1904 and 1914.
Specifications:
• Designer: Emanuel Josef Margold (1888–1962)
• Manufacturer: H. Bahlsens Keks-Fabrik (Hannover, Germany)

Condition:
The tin is in a beautiful and authentic antique condition with patina and signs of use that befit an age of over 110 years. Light lacquer damage, especially at the corners and edges (see the detail photos for an accurate impression). The hinge and clasp function properly. The gold-colored interior and the stamp on the underside are still very sharp and legible.
The object will be expertly packaged and shipped with tracking and tracing (registered/insured).
