WMF - Centrepiece - Large - cheese, cakes, pastries, fruits - Silverplated, Ceramic - Serving Stand Art Nouveau

WMF – Exceptional Art Nouveau / Jugendstil Silver-Plated Centerpiece with Original Ceramic Insert – Germany, circa 1900

An exceptional and beautifully preserved Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) centerpiece, manufactured and hallmarked by the renowned German metalware manufacturer WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik).

Dating from approximately 1900–1910, this elegant pedestal stand is a wonderful example of German Jugendstil craftsmanship, combining refined silver-plated metalwork with a removable decorative ceramic insert.

Design and craftsmanship
The centerpiece displays the flowing, organic lines and stylised floral ornamentation characteristic of the Jugendstil movement.

The beautifully executed pedestal base features delicate raised floral motifs, reminiscent of budding flowers, arranged in a harmonious geometric composition. The slender, tapered stem is enhanced by finely engraved horizontal bands.

The generously proportioned circular upper section is particularly impressive, featuring an elaborate repeating border of stylished floral elements, flowing lines and rounded bead-like ornaments.

The combination of polished silver-plated surfaces, sculptural relief decoration and elegant proportions gives this piece a sophisticated and timeless appearance.

WMF – German Jugendstil excellence

Founded in 1853 and established under the name Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik in 1880, WMF became one of Germany's most important manufacturers of decorative metalwork.
Around the turn of the 20th century, WMF achieved international recognition for its outstanding Art Nouveau creations, producing beautifully designed tableware, centerpieces and decorative objects.

Its Jugendstil designs are particularly appreciated for their combination of artistic innovation, high-quality craftsmanship and functional elegance.

The original WMF manufacturer's mark is present on the underside of the silver-plated structure.

Versatile use
One of the particularly attractive features of this centerpiece is its versatility.
With the original ceramic insert, it can be used as an elegant raised serving stand for cheese, cakes, pastries or other delicacies.

Without the ceramic insert, the beautifully polished silver-plated dish becomes an impressive centerpiece for displaying fruit, nuts or decorative arrangements.

Its generous diameter of approximately 36 cm makes it a striking addition to a beautifully laid dining table, buffet or elegant interior.

Condition
In very good antique condition, especially considering its age of more than a century.
The silver plating is exceptionally well preserved, retaining its beautiful shine, with only minimal signs of age and careful use.
The removable ceramic insert is also in good antique condition, with some minor signs of age and wear along the edges, as visible in the photographs.
Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
