Chinese enamel box in polychrome with floral and bird decorations – late 19th / early 20th century

Description

Elegant Chinese rectangular box with lid, finely decorated with polychrome enamels.

The lid features a refined composition with large pink peonies, green leaves and a small bird, enclosed within a deep blue border. The sides of the box are decorated with floral panels and birds, alternated with an elaborate blue background with vegetal scrolls and floral motifs.

The edges and frames are finished with gilded metal elements, creating a pleasant contrast with the blue and the vivid colors of the enamels.

The decoration, with peonies, birds and vegetal motifs, is typical of Chinese decorative art and gives the object a particularly ornamental character.

The object presents a beautiful patina of time and signs of use and preservation consistent with its age. There are visible some small imperfections and traces of surface wear, as documented in the photographs.
