Rosenthal Classic Rose ROMANCE 1983 - 1991 - Tureen - Porcelain

This description concerns a fine porcelain tureen, created by the renowned German manufacturer Rosenthal, specifically the early pieces, for example, bear the inscription "Classic Rose Collection" in a circle with a crown and two roses; later it was simplified to "Classic Rose" with a crown and crossed rose branches.

In 1879, returning from an experience in the United States of America, Philipp Rosenthal decides to open a decoration workshop for porcelain in Erkersreuth, near Selb, Bavaria. In 1907 the company begins to mark every product with its own name. The following year Rosenthal acquires Thomas, a brand later aimed at a younger audience. Being Jewish, Philipp Rosenthal faced pressure from the Nazis and in 1934 he leaves the leadership of the company, which nonetheless continues to expand during the First and Second World Wars.

In 1950 his son Philip takes the helm of the company, which in 1961 inaugurates Rosenthal Studio-Line, a brand dedicated to projects and collaborations with renowned artists, architects and designers.

In 1993 the Rosenthal meets Versace line was inaugurated.

In 1997 Rosenthal AG was acquired by Waterford Wedgwood, which in 2003 acquired the Hutschenreuther brand, founded in 1814.
