Description from the seller
Walter Lodali's Barolo DOCG Bricco Ambrogio 2022 is a masterful expression of one of the northernmost and most distinctive cru in the entire Barolo area, located in the municipality of Roddi.
This wine represents the perfect meeting of Nebbiolo's structural power and an almost suspended aromatic finesse, typical of a terroir with privileged sun exposure and unique calcareous-clayey soils.
It originates in the Bricco Ambrogio vineyard, a true enclave of excellence where the vines sink their roots into fossiliferous Sant'Agata marls. Here, Walter Lodali carries forward a family tradition that smells of earth and hard work, interpreting the 2022 vintage with extreme clarity: despite the warmth of the season, the wine maintains a surprising freshness, the result of meticulous agronomic management aimed at preserving the fruit's integrity and the verticality of the palate.
Produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, the Bricco Ambrogio 2022 is the result of winemaking that does not take shortcuts. After a controlled-temperature fermentation with long macerations on the skins to extract noble tannins, the wine undergoes about 24 months of aging in French oak barrels. This wooden aging is dosed with sartorial care, serving as a training ground for the wine without ever overpowering its varietal identity.
In the glass it presents an intense, deep garnet red, while on the nose it offers a complex and seductive bouquet, where wilted rose and violet intertwine with notes of red berries, licorice, and a blood-tinged mineral hint typical of the cru. On the palate it is powerful, austere yet of great balance, sustained by a dense and velvety tannin that leads to an extraordinarily persistent finish.
A Barolo of great character and substance, aimed at those who seek Roddi's depth in a modern, elegant, and deeply terroir-driven interpretation.
