Description from the seller

Monumental French 19th-Century Centerpiece Tazza – Neoclassical Revival – Crackle-Glazed Ceramic & Ornate Bronze Mounts

An exceptional and monumental 19th-century French footed centrepiece bowl (tazza), combining elegant ivory-coloured crackle-glazed ceramic with richly decorated bronze mounts.

This magnificent decorative object reflects the refined craftsmanship and luxurious ornamental traditions of 19th-century France.

The impressive, generously proportioned bowl features a beautifully scalloped rim and a delicate network of fine craquelure beneath its ivory-coloured glaze, creating a subtle and sophisticated antique appearance.

The architectural pedestal is adorned with elaborate classical ornaments, including finely modelled acanthus leaves, stylised foliage and decorative bands. The richly sculpted base rests on four magnificent scrolling feet, displaying the elaborate craftsmanship associated with French decorative arts of the period.

The warm golden patina of the metal beautifully complements the pale ceramic, creating an elegant contrast.

Such impressive ornamental centerpieces were designed to enhance the interiors of grand residences, where they served both as functional display pieces and as symbols of refinement and prestige.
