Description from the seller
French Napoleon III Antique Chest of Drawers with Marble Top and Bronze Ornaments
Elegant antique French dresser, dating to the Napoleonic era, second half of the nineteenth century, characterized by refined geometric inlay work and splendid decorative bronze fittings.
The structure features a slightly arched front with three large stacked drawers, enhanced by refined veneer arranged in geometric and herringbone patterns, creating elegant play of wood grain and warm tones. Each drawer is enriched with shaped bronze handles and a central mouthpiece decorated with ornamental motifs.
The upper top is made of precious marble in splendid pinkish, beige, and ochre shades, characterized by rich natural veining and an elegant shaped edge that harmoniously follows the sinuous lines of the cabinet.
The front vertical supports are adorned with important bronze moldings in floral and Rocaille motifs, extending vertically down to the slightly curved feet, also finished with elegant metal applications. The sides feature refined geometric veneer work, in perfect harmony with the front.
The lower, shaped fascia and the balanced proportions complete the refined and scenographic aesthetics of the piece, expression of French decorative taste from the Napoleonic III period.
