Description from the seller
Rare Vintage Coffee Mill PEUGEOT FRÈRES – High-End Luxury Model "PEUGINOX" in Stainless Steel – Circa 1950 (France)
Historical description and interest for the collection:
Stunning and authentic manual coffee grinder from the famous French brand Peugeot Frères, produced between the late 1940s and the 1950s. It is the luxury high-end version named "PEUGINOX", immediately identifiable thanks to its original engraving stamped in the metal: "Stainless steel - Peuginox".
This model marks a historical turning point for the Lion brand by abandoning sheet metal to adopt polished stainless steel. Its very clean cubic design perfectly combines post-war industrial modernity with the warmth of natural wood used for the top panel, the base, and the front of the drawer.
Technical specifications:
• Brand: Peugeot Frères (Made in France)
• Model: Peuginox (Luxury variant)
• Period: Circa 1946 - 1955
• Materials: Cubic body in genuine stainless steel, top crown in chromed steel, wood structure and finishes, internal hopper in Bakelite.
• Mechanism: Renowned Peugeot steel burr grinder, robust and entirely original.
Condition (Honest appraisal):
• Visual aspect: Very nice overall shine of the stainless steel structure. The metal shows a superb gloss with light micro-scratches from normal use that attest to its authenticity. The engraving "Peuginox" is perfectly crisp and legible.
• Wooden elements: The base, top, and drawer are in healthy, solid wood, with a very beautiful patina of the era.
• Mechanism & Hopper: The grinding mechanism rotates perfectly. Rare asset: The white Bakelite inner hopper under the pivoting cover is pristine, clean and crack-free. The original receiving drawer is present.
• Handle: Shows oxidation specks and an original surface patina from time, which attest to the object's historical character without compromising its solidity.
A very fine example of French tabletop art and industrial design, perfect for a discerning collector or for daily use in "slow coffee".
Careful packaging with tracking number provided.
