Description from the seller
An brass water kettle / teapot, designed and manufactured by the German metal artist Karl Raichle (1889–1965) in his workshop in Meersburg on Lake Constance (Germany). Raichle studied in the 1920s at the famous Bauhaus art school in Weimar. His designs are known for their clean, minimalist functionality combined with traditional craftsmanship.
This kettle dates from the 1930s (ca. 1933–1939).
Characteristics and details:
• Design & Style: Distinctive Bauhaus / Art Deco design with a spherical (globular) housing and a sleek, flat handle.
• Finish: Fully hand-hammered (martelé).
• The bottom bears the original, deeply struck workshop stamp: the characteristic small letter 'r' (Raichle), the place name 'Meersburg' and the control dot. This guarantees an early, original specimen.
• Good condition: light scratches and specks, 1 small dent on the side. The interior shows the original, dark patinated tin coating from the period. See photos.
Dimensions approx. 24 cm high with handle (17 cm without), approx. 28 cm long and approx. 18 cm wide.
