Description from the seller

Refined lot consisting of four coffee cups with their saucers, an emblematic expression of the formal renewal introduced by Gio Ponti during his artistic direction for the Richard-Ginori manufactory. The service is distinguished by the iconic avant-garde modernist form (attributable to the famous Barbara series), characterized by a flared body with an asymmetric and oblique opening, completed by a raised geometric ring handle. The exterior surface is embellished with a sophisticated geometric-abstract Art Deco decoration: a dense graphic of lines defines arches, dotted fields, and concentric spherical motifs, rhythmically shaded in tones of cobalt blue, ochre, and burnt earth. The upper rims and bases are accented by a strict dark banding. Under the base of each piece is the prestigious heraldic cartouche crowned in sterling gold, impressed with a third firing bearing the inscription “RICHARD-GINORI PITTORIA DI DOCCIA,” an elite mark reserved exclusively for hand-painted pieces in the Tuscan manufactory’s art laboratories. Excellent overall condition. Porcelain intact, glossy glaze, minimal signs of aging and use. See photos for conditions and measurements. I do not ship outside the European Community. The lot will be carefully packed and shipped in a reinforced polystyrene box.
