Description from the seller
Large 32 cm Fossil Jaw - Globidens phosphaticus Mosasaur Jaw with 11 Teeth - Sidi Chennane, Morocco - Upper Cretaceous.
An extraordinary, large-sized fossil jaw section of Globidens phosphaticus, a highly specialized globidontine mosasaur from the Upper Cretaceous period (Maastrichtian, approx. 66–72 million years old).
Measuring a substantial 32 cm in length, this impressive specimen features an exceptional row of 11 teeth preserved along the heavy jaw bone matrix. Globidens was unique among apex marine reptiles for its rounded, bulbous teeth, which evolved specifically to crush hard-shelled prey such as sea turtles, ammonites, and bivalves.
This specimen displays fantastic bone detail, clear tooth enamel coloration, and remarkable anatomical completeness for its size.
(Please note: The wooden base shown in photos is for display purposes only and is NOT included in the auction).
