Description from the seller
Offered is this magnificent and extremely elegant antique lounge/center table from the mid-19th century (c. 1850),
carried out in the rich Louis Philippe / Biedermeier style.
The piece immediately stands out for its unique, undulating “violin-shaped” or “biscuit” tabletop.
The top features a splendid mirrored veneer pattern with a deep, warm wood grain that shines beautifully in daylight.
The table rests on a very sturdy and richly decorated central leg (column foot), which transitions into four gracefully carved ball-and-claw feet with characteristic Baroque scrollwork and carving elements.
This model was used at the time to adorn the gentlemen’s rooms or salons of wealthy families. Today it is a fantastic character piece that fits perfectly in a classical, eclectic, or modern hotel-chic interior.
