AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare aviation astronomical chronometer type 13ЧП, manufactured by the 1st Watch Factory of Moscow “Kirov” (future Poljot) for the Soviet Air Force. These instruments equipped long-range bombers. They were used for astronomical navigation with a sextant during long-duration flights.

The chronometer:

- Silver dial signed “1МЧЗ имени Кирова”, with large Arabic numerals
- Small seconds and power reserve indicator (0–56 hours)
- Mechanical hand-wound movement, housed in a brass case suspended by 4 anti-vibration springs

The case:

- Solid oak at three levels, corners and reinforcements in brass, two sliding latches
- Upper level with brass bezel and glass window to read the time without opening the case
- Heating system with two switches “ОБОГРЕВ” (on/off)
- Multi-pin electrical connector for the seconds contacts
- Manufacturer plate “13ЧП N° 02701”
- Metal mounting lugs to attach the unit to the aircraft under the case

Original document: the wiring diagram is preserved in the lid. It is titled “Хронометр авиационный астрономический 13-20ЧП-М” (aviation astronomical chronometer 13-20ЧП-М) and details the wiring to indicator 20ЧП-М, the Ф-14А filter and the sextant.

Sold separately, without the indicator 20ЧП-М or the Ф-14А filter.

Condition: very good cosmetic condition. The case shows light signs of use, brass patinated, dial with small signs of wear. The movement has not been tested; a service by a watchmaker is recommended.

A piece of Soviet aviation history, sought after by collectors of military horology and navigation instruments.
