Description from the seller

Beautiful porcelain tureen, produced by Richard Ginori, model "Vecchio Ginori" with elegant gold finishes.

The origins of the sinuous style, characteristic of all Vecchio Ginori porcelains, lie in the course of the 18th century. History has left us a small but meaningful detail: an expression through which it was common to refer to this very form. A precious heritage of the past that allows us to perceive even today the greatness and the strength that made it immune, almost estranged, to the passage of centuries.
In Doccia, a magical place where our Ginori 1735 house was born, it was common to call "alla sassone" that border motif characteristic of porcelain dinner services and of all other items that bore this name. A saying justified by the seventeenth-century Germanic tradition, according to which porcelains with reliefs similar to those of woven baskets were produced. Not by chance, ozier is the more technical expression used to indicate this type of raised decoration, whose translation from German to Italian precisely corresponds to "wicker basket." A tradition that the masters of the Manifattura embraced, making the weaves more delicate, the lines more sinuous, with a taste and artisanal skill properly Italian that have made immortal this simple yet elegant motif.

The tureen stands out for its relief work on the fine porcelain, which renders the design classic and unmistakable. On the handle is modeled a pumpkin.

Excellent condition.

The tureen is still in production and is sold for 495.00 euros without gilding.

Seller's Story

My name is Riccardo. I recently graduated in Art History from the University of Florence and I am passionate about porcelain. From tableware to artistic vases, from figurines to tea and coffee sets, I am fascinated by the mastery and creativity of great artisans and designers who manage to shape this fragile material, transforming a rough mass into masterpieces with a story to tell. During my years at university I began to become interested in the history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century tableware; today, every day, I deal with prestigious porcelain pieces that always have something to say to me and to those who purchase them. I love that every day I can discover more about the objects I find while traveling around Italy, always learning something new. I always try to convey to my clients this passion I have for the objects I sell, certain that each of them has a story to tell: that of the creator, that of the one who preserved it, and that of the person who will give it a new life.
