Description from the seller
Splendid Vintage Rya Carpet "Joker" – Højer Eksport Wilton (Denmark, 1960s/1970s)
Incredible example of mid-20th-century Scandinavian textile art, this original Rya rug was produced in Denmark by the renowned manufacturer Højer Eksport Wilton between the late 1960s and early 1970s.
This rug is made of long-pile, thick wool, crafted according to the typical Scandinavian Rya rug technique (also known as shag rugs).
The model, named "Joker", is a true icon of the Mid-Century Modern period. It features a geometrical and abstract design, strongly expressive, characterized by a radial pattern that develops from the center toward the edges. The color palette perfectly embodies the aesthetics of the Space Age era and organic modernism, pairing warm earthy tones like rust brown, olive green, and cream with a vibrant blue-teal accent in the heart of the pattern.
Slight signs of age and wear clearly visible in the photos.
