Description from the seller
Leonardo 500 is a homage to the great Renaissance genius on the 500th anniversary of his death, with the exclusive reproduction of one of the anatomical studies that has transcended the centuries the most: The Vitruvian Man. A unique work, limited and numbered in series of 2,998 copies.
The original drawing of The Vitruvian Man, which is currently located in the Gallery of the Academy, in Venice, is one of the best-known works by the Florentine master. Drawn in pencil and ink on paper in 1490, it shows the relationship between man and the universe (microcosm and macrocosm). A male figure appears framed within a square and a circle, with the arms and legs extended in two positions. The square represents the earthly world, whose center is the genitals; meanwhile, the center of the circle located at the navel symbolizes the spiritual world.
