Description from the seller
Classical Bacchus (Dionysus) Bust – Antique Bronze-Style Finish – Decorative Sculpture
An impressive classical-style bust depicting Bacchus, also known as Dionysus, the Greek and Roman god associated with wine, celebration, fertility and abundance.
The sculpture portrays a mature bearded male figure with a calm, dignified expression, finely modelled facial features and an elaborate arrangement of curling hair. His head is adorned with a decorative wreath featuring vine leaves and grape-like clusters, traditional symbols associated with Bacchus.
The richly sculpted beard is formed from flowing curls, creating an attractive sense of depth and texture. The figure is finished in a warm dark-brown bronze-like patina, with subtle highlights that accentuate the sculptural details.
The bust is mounted on a simple square pedestal, allowing it to be displayed on a desk, bookshelf, mantelpiece or within a collection of classical decorative art.
The design draws inspiration from ancient Greco-Roman sculpture and later European neoclassical traditions.
A small opening is visible on the upper part of the head. Its original purpose is unknown and it should be considered part of the object's present condition.
