Description from the seller
Val Saint Lambert – Luxval – Grand serving piece Art Deco No. 29 – 1935
Magnificent and imposing six-compartment serving piece in transparent pressed glass, made by the prestigious Belgian manufacture Val Saint Lambert, for its famous Luxval collection, circa 1935.
This authentic Art Deco-era piece corresponds to model No. 29 of the “Service à larges côtes plates A,” reproduced on plate 17 of the 1935 Luxval historical catalog.
Its remarkable hexagonal composition reveals six compartments adorned with deep radiating ribs, arranged around a central elegant faceted knob.
Its festooned border and geometric lines create superb play of light, characteristic of the 1930s Art Deco aesthetic.
The Luxval collection is notably associated with the creations of Charles Graffart and René Delvenne, two prominent figures in Belgian glassmaking of that period.
As both a collectible object and a table art piece, this large serving piece can hold hors d’oeuvre, dried fruits or mignardises, or simply be displayed to appreciate the richness of its décor.
