Description from the seller
Collector's figure "Krokuselfe" from the series Galleria Ceramica, Heinrich Porzellan, later Villeroy & Boch, known for fine, sculptural art objects and sophisticated porcelain art.
The design motif of the elf series from Heinrich Porzellan is based on the world-famous, historical illustrations by the English artist Cicely Mary Barker, who always depicted elves in connection with plants. The crocus elf is characterized by very fine, delicate detailing. The elf stands barefoot on a square pedestal, from which crocus blossoms rise. In her hands she holds a large crocus bud protectively. In flowing lines the dress hugs the contours of the elf and hints at the elegant, curved lines of the flower bud. The posture of the figure is calm, graceful, defined by timeless symmetry. The geometrically, squarely stepped pedestal with gold inlay breaks the organic forms of the elf and recalls antique statue constructions.
Produced this graceful figure is made of hard porcelain, also called fine porcelain. This gives the figure a beautiful smooth, glossy surface.
The figure is in very good condition. No cracks, chips or other damage are visible. All delicate parts such as wings and blossoms are fully intact. Only at the base are minimal age-related signs of wear visible.
Limited edition of 1000 pieces. The offered crocus elf is the edition 89/1000.
