AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

About the vintage

This wine is one of the few Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines to be truly vinified from the famous thirteen Rhône grape varieties! It comes from more than fifty-year-old vines that yield a maximum of 30 hl per hectare, and from a terroir respected by a viticulture very close to organic. It inspires admiration and serves as a benchmark for many winemakers in the region.

If the thirteen grape varieties are present, bringing rare complexity to this red wine, Mourvèdre and Grenache are largely dominant (30% each), the former being the backbone of the wine, the latter adding youth and fruitiness. They are complemented among others by Syrah (10%) and Counoise (10%). At the end of the malolactic fermentations, the thirteen grape varieties are blended in 40-hectoliter oak foudres. The young wine stays there for a year, then it is fined with egg white before bottling. Once bottled, the wine rests and matures for another year in the château’s cellars before being released for sale. The slow ripening of the grapes, together with a long and gentle winemaking process, produces a wine with silky tannins and, nevertheless, a great mouthfeel. The fruitiness and balance are impressive, as is its aging potential. The estate recommends drinking this wine only after at least 10 years to fully grasp its complexity, and so that the balance between Grenache and Mourvèdre reveals itself at its best.
