Description from the seller

Pair of 3-branch Candelabra in Baroque Style – Solid 800 Silver – F.lli Borzoni (Vercelli, 1955/1969)

Magnificent pair of three-light candelabra in solid 800 silver, finely cast and chased with volute and Rocaille motifs. High-quality Italian manufacture from the mid-20th century.

Refined pair of three-flame candelabra in solid 800 silver, superb example of the great Piedmontese silversmith tradition from the post-war period.
The candelabra feature a sumptuous and elegant Baroque/Rococo design, characterized by flowing lines, moving arms enriched with fluid volutes and foliate (phytomorphic) decorations rich in hand-engraved details. The structure rests on a solid, stable domed base with coordinated flame and bead motifs that echo the motifs of the shafts.

On the base of each candelabrum are clearly impressed and visible the legally required marks:
• The title of 800 silver
• The factory mark 29 VC inserted in a lozenge, which historically attributes the creation to the renowned F.lli Borzoni Silversmith Factory, Luigi’s, active in Vercelli (Via Alfieri, 21). The shape of the mark allows dating the objects precisely between 1955 and 1968.

The bobeches (bobèches) and the upper drip-catching discs with beaded edge are fully removable and disassemble. This detail, in addition to greatly facilitating cleaning and wax removal, testifies to the excellent constructive care and the high level of workmanship. The bases are entirely metal and hollow, without plaster or wax fillings, confirming the total authenticity of the precious metal weight.

In generally good condition with a splendid patina of age. They show the natural surface oxidation of silver that enhances the chiaroscuro and depth of the engravings (can be easily polished to mirror finish at the purchaser’s discretion). No structural deformity or repaired welding. Please carefully view the photographic gallery.
Total weight 981 grams of 800 silver
