Description from the seller
Butterfly cabinet measuring 18 cm by 27 cm and 5.5 cm deep with a hook for hanging. The cabinet contains one or more mounted butterflies whose scientific name and distribution range are noted on a label beneath or above the butterfly. The butterfly in the top middle is Taenaris catops from West Papua, New Guinea. The butterfly in the bottom middle is a Eupterotidae species from Indonesia, rarely offered. Egybolis vaillantina comes from Kenya. The pupae of this butterfly come from reputable breeders such as the Kipepeo Butterfly Project, located on the Kenyan coast near the Arabuko Sokoke Forest. Kipepeo is Swahili for butterfly! This is a community project where local farmers breed butterfly pupae for export worldwide and it was established in 1993 to provide the local population with a sustainable income (from, among other things, butterflies and honey), thereby countering deforestation and poaching in the Arabuko Sokoke Forest and increasing butterfly populations because part of their breeding stock must be released again in the protected forest. Dysphania militalis comes from Indonesia, and Nymphalis polychloros, Apamea syriaca, and Elophos unicoloraria are interesting European species.
