Pair of neoclassical column candelabra in white metal by Raoul Bernard (Paris), dating to circa 1913–1920 with Parisian hallmarking, each 30 cm high and 13 cm square, total weight about 1.6 kg, in good condition with minor wear and a natural patina.
Description from the seller
Pair of neoclassical column candlesticks – Raoul Bernard (Paris, 1913-1925) – Silvered metal
Dimensions 30 x 13 cm
Weight for the pair 1.6 kg
Refined pair of column candlesticks of clear neoclassical inspiration, made in Paris in the early decades of the 20th century.
The architectural structure stands out for the elegance of the chased details: smooth shaft enhanced by floral festoons and relief garlands, an Ionic capital richly decorated with acanthus leaves and a square stepped base (plinth) with ribbon motifs that recall Empire style and Louis XVI.
On the outer edge of each base are the official maker’s marks of the manufacture, which guarantee authenticity and exact period. The poinçon de maître in a lozenge shape of the Parisian silversmith Raoul Bernard (initials R.B. with the symbol of the three spheres) is clearly visible, registered in 1913.
A lot with splendid stage presence, ideal for collectors of French silverware and lovers of superb antiques.
Excellent condition, solid structure with a wonderful natural patina of time that enhances the reliefs. No structural defects.
