François Rude (1784–1855) After - Statue, 'Enfant rieur' - 26.5 cm - Faience

Craquelured ceramic sculpture on a pedestal of a smiling boy with wavy hair, after a work by the famous French sculptor François Rude, presumably produced in the 1920s–30s.

On the back signed "RUDE".

Note: various glaze defects including on the nose, the back of the head, and the corners of the pedestal (see photos 8 and 9) and a glaze fault, a crack on the left side of the pedestal (see photos 6 and 11).

Otherwise the sculpture is in good condition; other wear is in keeping with age and use.
