Description from the seller
A splendid and iconic 3-piece tea and coffee service in full Art Deco / Bauhaus style, produced in Germany by the famous WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) manufactory around the 1930s/40s. The set stands out for its famous patented thermal insulation system and consists of:
Tea pot / coffee pot spherical with lid and resting feet [WMF]
Coordinated sugar bowl with lid
Milk jug / Pitcher for milk
This set represents a perfect example of German modernist design of the era, where functionality marries avant-garde aesthetics. The structure combines an inner core of fine white/cream porcelain and an outer protective shell in finely hammered metal plated silver, deliberately left with its patina of time but which can be polished.
The peculiarity of this insulating system (historically known with the Thermisol patent) consists of an internal lining positioned between the porcelain and the metal jacket, designed to keep the temperature of the beverages hot much longer than ordinary teapots. The feet and the knobs on the lids complete the design with the geometric taste typical of the period.
It will be shipped carefully packaged and with a tracking number
