Description from the seller

Antique Frisian silver ceremonial spoon (birth spoon) with a braided stem and a short rat-tail foot. The spoon’s finial depicts a mother with child (maternal love). The spoon was probably made around 1770 by Johan Marcus Lentz from Leeuwarden (1750–1780). The stem has been restored (photo 7).

As the silver mark, a poorly legible master mark appears on the spoon, recognizable as an M; it resembles IML (joined). This is the master mark of Johan Marcus Lentz.

The length of the spoon is 17.6 cm, the width of the bowl is 4.5 cm, and its weight is 37.2 g.
