French Art Deco Crystal Travel Flask with Solid 950 Silver Drinking Cup – Minerva Hallmark – Circa 1920-40
An elegant and unusual French Art Deco travel flask, beautifully crafted from cut crystal and high-quality solid silver, dating from approximately 1920–1940.
This refined travelling accessory combines functionality with the luxury and craftsmanship of French silversmithing.
The cylindrical crystal flask features beautifully executed geometric cutting around the upper section, reflecting the clean architectural lines characteristic of the Art Deco period.
The lower section is fitted with a removable solid silver drinking cup, which slides neatly over the crystal body when not in use.
The flask is completed by a rounded silver screw cap and an additional ground-glass stopper, designed to help seal and protect the contents.
French silver hallmarks
The silver is hallmarked with the French Minerva First Standard mark (Minerve 1er titre), indicating a silver purity of 950/1000.
An additional French silversmith's hallmark appears in a horizontal diamond-shaped cartouche, with the initials AR preceded by a small symbol. The exact maker remains to be identified.
